More recently, the iconic frosty mountains were added and the “Cold Certified” label introduced with thermochromatic ink that turns blue when chilled to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. The frosty mountains on the label are located in San Miguel County, Colorado (quite far, in fact, from Golden in the Front Range). ![]() Rumor has it - and it’s my dad spreading this rumor - that in the ’70s Coors was the hot commodity to have a East coast college parties: he and his pals would load up the trunk of their jalopy and haul as much of the stuff back east from their summer trips to the Rockies. His intention: to use the crystal Rocky Mountain water of Clear Creek as an ingredient in his Westphalian beer recipe. Fast forward a hundred years and the beer was starting to take off nationally Denver was developing from cow town into a city. Today, Paramount is owned by Viacom, one of the largest media companies in the world, and produces major blockbuster films featuring actors like Marlon Brando, Harrison Ford, and others.In 1873, after a long and distracted journey west from his native Prussia, Adolph Coors planted himself down in Golden, Colorado. ![]() This, however, brought about an antitrust suit by the US Federal government, and forced Paramount to split into separate production and theater companies. Zukor was kept on as the director of the company through the Depression, and eventually brought the company back to prominence by integrating more theaters under Paramount’s ownership. The driving force behind Paramount’s rise was Adolph Zukor, who led the company until the Great Depression, when the company was turned into a receivership following overexpansion and eventual bankruptcy. Paramount was born out of a merger of the Famous Players studio, the Lasky Studio, and Paramount Theaters in the early 1900s. Paramount Studios was also responsible for the animation studios that created both Popeye and Betty Boop, which competed with Walt Disney Studios’ Mickey Mouse for popularity, merchandise, and theater sales. The studio oversees the production, filming, and distribution of major films, including Indiana Jones, the Godfather, Grease, and now the recent series of Marvel movies. Paramount is one of the Big 6 film studios in the United States, and the last major film studio to be based in Hollywood, California. ![]()
